Depeche Mode - Yah Babycakes!

I am off to Boston on Thursday to see one of my fave 80's bands - Depeche Mode. Seeing DM is one of my dreams come true! Dave Gahan still looks good and his voice sounds just as good - well a bit more raspy but still super sexy and dark.
I am on vacation from tomorrow so I plan to take it easy - chill - go for coffee and get ready for my flight on Thursday to a "thunderstorm" forecasted Boston (:().

I was in Boston last year for Russ and Deb's wedding - loved it. And my trip this time around is for the love of music - I see Queenryche at HoB on Thursday night. On Friday I plan to walk around Fanueil Hall and then D.M. at Comcast on Friday night. Saturday is a walk down Newbury Street; then dinner at one of my favourite restaurants in Boston (the Tangerino), and then - yeah for the boys - Club Cafe here I come.

I also plan to pick up some hot underwear that I ordered so I plan to show you some

Dave Gahan, Depeche Mode live in Rome, Stadio ...

pics of these when I get them. Yah!.

Going back to DM, here are my top 5 DM songs that I am hoping they would play:

5. Blasphemous Rumours
4. Strange Love
3. Everything Counts
2. Just Can't Get Enough
1. Personal Jesus (this song sounds so good techno remixed - awesome)!

Catching Up With Depeche Mode album cover

I remember seeing this album in a record shop when I was in high school and thought it was interesting. At that time I only knew a handful of DM songs but I so wanted this album. Up to now I still don't have it, but I have a big DM collection anyways.

Fave Alternative Albums

Well - the intention of this blog was to share aspects of my life and sometimes how music plays such a big part in it. But my recent blogs seems to be about me at the gym, eating or chillaxing with friends. Music is always there but might have taken a back seat - but here it is rearing it's sweet head.

I first heard the term "alternative" on WDRE 92.7 out from New York in 1990. I loved it - I couldn't get enough - bands like the Stone Roses, Inxs, Echo and The Bunnymen, Peter Murphy and R.E.M. seemed to rule on 92.7. I also loved the word "alternative" to describe the music. To me anything anti-main stream was great and "alternative" just summed it up greatly.

Picture this (Golden Girls) - 1989 - 1990 - just finishing up college and ready for my career path at University level - craving identity and seeking music to fit me and me alone. Then came WDRE 92.7 - wow! I loved the show called "Left of Center" - it was the first time I heard bands like the Stone Roses, House of Love, the Primitives and a bunch of other artists!

I was also on my way to London in the summer of 1990 and went to the Reading Festival then and headlining that Friday night was Faith No More and Jane's Addiction. The ticket for that one day in late August was only GBP 16.00 (I paid USD$245 for Reading tiks in 2004 - talk about inflation).

Unfortunately I had to leave at around 10:30 at nite, to catch the last train back to London so I ended up missing Jane's Addiction. However, justice was mine - after missing them in December 2003 in Madison Square Garden, I finally got revenge and saw them in June 2009 in Charlotte NC (with my fave - Nine Inch Nails [Trent your still a sexy MoFu, after all those years]). Needless to say they rocked - and I finally got to see some of their perform

Ritual de lo Habitual album coverThis image was eventually banned as was deemed to offensive and a censored cover eventually appeared (Jane's Addiction - 1990).

ances to Ritual de lo Habitual (Three Days  was the opening performance track).

With that said - here is my top 5 picks for Best Alternative Albums that shaped my life:

5. Ritual de lo Habitual - Jane's Addiction
4. O.K. Computer - Radoihead
3. The Queen is Dead - The Smiths
2. Daydream Nation - Sonic Youth
1. Stone Roses - The Stone Roses (every song is a greatest hit on this album)

Please let me have your feedback!

I plan to post at some stage - my favourite alternative/modern rock tracks.

Yoshi Baby

Being on this island makes you realise just how fragile life can be. I have made so many friends here and I have seen an equal number leave - it's never easy. Tonight I had dinner at Yoshi's (good sushi baby!) with my friend Francine to catch up on her trip back home to Liverpool.

Yoshi is one of those places where I know almost everyone, I get great service, the wine is awesome, and the prices are reasonable. I was chatting with my friend Candice (we're the same age), one of the waitresses there from Vancouver - and she spilled some good news (well good for her) that she is taking a tour to Asia (Korea, Shanghai, Beinjing and Thailand (in September) and she won't be returning to the island (boo hah!)

We'll miss you - I just want to say that you really mean alot to me in the sense that I always found you to be a genuine person and someone really ..... well (sorry had to take a break there to taste my delicious muffin and ice cream) ...... really sincere and trustworthy.

I am glad you can focus on your music now - good on yah!

Anyways - some more pics from Yoshi -

Francine and Candice - Yoshi - both sides of the Atlantic (Vancouver vs Liverpool) - Yah baby

Francine - is this the best shot you could take - Jeez! Me stuffing down my spicy tempura shrimp roll (ummmm!)

Sunday (Easy Like.....)

Oversleep - that's not something that I like to do - I think it's wasted time - especially when the world awaits - warm sun, sexy cutie pie, great friends, time to chill.

Having overslept I missed my spin class so decided I would have hearty breakfast and go to the gym later! Of course - I did not want to eat alone but I got refused by a few friends so had anyways my sweet potato fries, fresh fruit and yogurt (with Greek honey) and a southern style biscuit with butter and cheese - ummmmmm!

It was fun having breakfast while listening to my Itunes - got a remix of some Britney tracks (Britney is sooooo hot!!! - love ya!). Luckily Alina came over and made her a breakfast (well brunch at this time) for a champ (Thanks for keeping me company on my lonely morning).

Gym was good - I was glad when it was over (as you can see). OMG - I need to take a shave (yikes) - can't remember what song was playing but I think it was "Black Hole Sun" by "Soundgarden").

My workout left me soooo hungry - I had salmon that was left over for a week (hey - it looked good and still smelled great) with salad. I have to say the salad looked so good I had to take a pic! (Impressive huh!! - yeah I know - I rock - red peppers; organic cranberries; croutons; almonds; and red onions).

(You can see the cord on my camera - I am not perfect OK).

Looking forward to Hung and True Blood tonight (all those orgies over the last week on TB as left me with a "taste" for more). Also have dinner plans with Francine - sushi baby.

Saturday - I'm in love (again)

(Me at Lloyd's exhibition - posing in the hot sun - vodka soda on the roof of the Hyatt, and being inspired to take a few pics of my own).

My friend Lloyd is leaving and he had an exhibition of his photography work for some of his friends and colleagues to see. Lloyd is from S.Africa and is off to wonderful New York to try and launch his career as a photographer (good on you dude for having to balls to do so).

Of course, we all seem to get expired from what we saw - there were photographs of dew drops, palm leaves, flowers, sunsets - all set to bright and vibrant colors. Below is my attempt to start my career as a photographer - kinda sucks - but hey - I am a budding star (lol!).

Above is my attempt to take a close up of a pink flower (which I plan to print on canvas for my guest bathroom). What do you think - kinda artsy fartsy?

The other shot is my attempt of a close-up of a plam leave - my attempt to outdo Lloyd and my friend Monique (we had a competition to see who can take the best nature shot - I think I won this one).

Do you like my palm shot? I think it is prize worthy (lol!).

Me and Monique also had a competition of the "best sunset". This was mine after seeing what Mo did - but Monique won this challenge.

Isn't it beautiful (just like cutie).

But most noteworthy is that there was family there - always good to be in the company of same.

That's me on top of the old Hyatt building at the photo exhibition. (Look at the beautiful view behind).

Friday - I'm In Love

Great song (the Cure). It's Friday and I am off. I have so much leave to take that I decided to take as much Fridays off that I can, so that I can reduce my leave. So I started the day right....made a hearty breakfast of eggs, french toast, hash browns (all organic by the way), fresh juice and dark french roast coffee - yeah baby. And to make it better - I made it in the buff (heheheh)!

(That's me beating my organic eggs - at least you cannot see any sexy parts (hee hee!) - the apron (which is really a garden apron) hides it well - oh well).

I love making breakfast for my cutie and in the buff - ummmm ... so sexy.

Needless to say breakfast was really good. Following which I got a bit bored and decided to take a few shots of myself, in some hot underwear - let's call today - Sexy Underwear Day (SUD!!).

(That's my hot D&G underwear. Ummmm - I also have it in white (I might post that one too at some point), but for now - this is my test shot (hope you like)).

From there - took shower, and headed to cafe del sol for more coffee (yes - I am a coffee freak - I can't have enough of it!) and to print my Depeche Mode ticket, as I don't have a printer at home. Next time I will definitely take will call, rather than having to print the ticket, which must be printed before hand.

Anyways - that's me at cafe playing with my camera, while waiting for my tik to print. (I must be really bored).

Of course - have to make it to gym, being the gym freak that I am.....Spin Class always rocks. I decided to work as hard as I can today in Spin as I plan to do some vodka crans later tonight so don't want to feel guilty whilst out - and boy did I put the pressure on - so worth it.

A session at the gym always gives me an appetite - so back to Camana Bay to Abacus  - I was craving me some Red Thai Curry - ummmmm - love spicy food. Needless to say it was great. Had a nice chat with the lady bartender who took this pic of me brushing up for my trip to Boston next week to see Depeche Mode (sweet!).

See me with my LP Boston guide (I was there last year for my friend's Russ's wedding and loved the city so much!).

Being such a great day and me now full (Thai Curry, a glass of my favorite Sauvignon Blanc to wash down that tasty meal, and topping it off with an expresso), decided to go see the new Harry Potter flick.

Yes, I am a Potter head, love all of the movies. Most of the times are already sold out for today (Friday) and over the weekend, but luckily got the 3:00 p.m. show.

I loved it - it was a bit slow, but it was dark and intense. Some people did not like and thought it was boring - but if you've seen the others you might as well see it (I give it 4 stars out of 5).

All in all a good day!

Is it weekend yet

Aye aye aye! What a day! Couldn't wait for today to be over (from work that is) and be home for some vino! But one pit stop at the gym .... I just want it to be over with. Well I was really lazy when I arrived - I did a 20 minute warm up, and then "ENERGY". I did some weights and core and stayed in for about 90 minutes - much longer than I anticipated. It must have been the music on my new IPOD shuffle (I hate it - it's difficult to change tracks when I am running and I can't play tracks back).

Anyways - I finally arrived home, jumped in the shower and all the time craving my favourite red wine - ummmmm.......had my left overs from Vic's BBQ on Sunday night - some BBQ chicken, Steak (that's steak 3 days in a row), and some rice and beans from my hottie Julie. Food rocked - but the wine, - ummmm made my night.

Now I await to see True Blood. Yeah baby!

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Hi - had a great workout at the gym today. I was quite reluctant to go - felt super lazy! But I was glad I did - ran for 20 mins, they cycled for 15, rowed for 10 and then did 100 reps on triceps. Wow!

I was ready for a big breakfast after, and craved steak and eggs for some reason. I don't eat steak - but I just had to have it today.

Across from the gym is my favorite place for breakfast. I always go there on weekends - the food is fresh and the staff are great. Needless to say, my steak and eggs rocked. Even had some to bring home for later (or maybe tomorrow morning).

Oh....what a night (is this the best Cayman has to offer?)

OK - quite busy tonight. Too bad there's the midnight shutdown here (Major lame). But I was at my friend Sherise's birthday party and then at Aqua Beach for a naughty doctors and nurses party (yee hah!!!). Lots of hot chicks in sexy nurses outfits. C'mon guys you can definitely do better.
Rachel and Lu posing at Sherise's birthday balloons (best friends).

We had a great meal here at Sherise's -  great BBQ ribs and chicken and ummmm....one of my faves - rice and beans, and they really lash.

Also had a few vodka crans (my fave - Grey Goose) - they were awesome, and I guess that set the mood for some debauchery at Aqua.

Well, with about an hour and a half to spare to the midnight hour, needed some debauchery at Aqua. I decided I did not want to drive so quickly got home, parked my Ford and then called a cab to drop me off at Aqua.

Great bar along Seven Mile - and then wow - hot guys and girls in their nurses and doctors outfits, great music and a den of sin which has not been seen before - I LIKE. The nurses definitely outshined the doctors (sorry guys - you sucked!!).

See these hot babes.

(My friend Alina and some hot nurse). Below is me and Alina. Sorry my eyes are closed but I was still a bit sober (hee hee!!!)

My deadly sins (in love)

So, I got to thinking about the things we do in a relationship to make people annoyed/crazy.  We tend to always give advice to someone based on what we have experienced or would like to experience. But from the outside looking in, it seems easy. But if we were faced with that situation can we heed our own advice? Probably not....in most cases.

For me, I had a fight with my significant other and wondered what it is all about....know it does not seem to matter. But yet still, my pride is getting in the way - I don't want to call....i want to be called. Yes - I was hurt at the time and I feel taken for granted, but my advice to a friend would be ...."ah....forgetaboutit....move on....too much drama".

Now I am in a situation where I should do that - but my human weakness is giving into pride and anger...

I can only think of a song that reminds me of love, and how weak we are in it....the "weakness in me" is you....my love.

Long weekend

Another long weekend in Cayman....

So happy. These days I just can't wait to leave the office, and head to the gym, then home for a great dinner and relaxation. Looking for a rich, older woman....any takers....

But seriously (a Phil Collins album title), we do have alot to be thankful for....

- great weather; beaches; good friends; great dinners.

In the world this week we had:

- Hounduras in crisis;

Posted on Flickr by user mojo-jo-jo under CC A...Image via Wikipedia

- Conflict in Iran continuing;
- Federer breaking records in Wimbeldon
- Unemployment rate in the US 9.5%

So much depressing stuff that if you think about it you'd probably go crazy, stay inside and just pack calories on. Which brings me to the song "Times like These" by "The Foo Fighters". I had no idea where this blog was heading until this song came on on my itunes coffee house playlist.

"It's times like these you learn to to live again
It's times like these you learn to give again
It's times like these you learn to love again"

You see....rock's got a message. Take it and make a difference - even if you are inspired for only 1 minute.
