Play on Obama opens in Germany

Obama's popularity in Germany has been soaring since 2008 and is still on a high - so much so, that a musical showcasing the rise of Obama to Presidency premiered in Frankfurt on January 17th this year. Despite waning popularity in the US, he is viewed as a larger than life persona in Europe.

The musical entitled "Hope - The Obama Musical Story" has a singing Sarah Palin and John McCain, and looks at the life of Obama over the last 20 years or so - from his life in a middle-class suburban family in Chicago; to his first date with Michelle (Obama) to the build up to the 2008 elections.

Check out some pics of the musical.

  3. Interesting, but doubt it will come to the US 'til after his presidency is over - too many things that would cause conflicts.

SteveA, my friend, I am stopping by to say I have nominated you for a Kreativ Blogger Award - details in a post on my blog!

  4. I wanna see it! But I think a better title would have been simply...

    Obama! The Musical

  5. Why am I not surprised. Europeans always seem to be ahead of the curve. I'd love to see it, but I doubt it will ever make its' way here to the states.

  6. Guys - thanks so much for your comments. I agree with Howard in that it is not the right time for the US just yet.

And Kyle - yes - Europeans are ahead - they are also "in love" with Obama - when I look at the pics on TV it;s amazing how popular he is overseas.

Howard - wow - I am honoured - thanks - I am checking your blog now!
