Stretch : The Unlikely Making of A Yoga Dude

This is the latest book I'm reading!

When I read the story I thought it was so much about me - a middle aged, balding guy finding his way through life with the help of yoga!

Here's a picture of me and our yoga group in downward dog. I'm on the far right. As you can see the view is amazing - the Pacific Ocean abounds - awesome.

There's a few paragraphs on how to control and/or hide your farting in yoga - completely hilarious! According to Neal the best time to fart was with the "OM".

There's the usual misnomers about yoga in there - for instance guys who do yoga must be gay! And also how your mind thinks about food and for instance who's winning the Dodgers game!
There's even a paragraph in there about Lady GaGa!

This book so cracks me up - I've never had so much fun reading a book.

Neal (Pollack) really delivers on this book! I can so relate to it, and every paragraph is full of wit, raw personal thruth and the soul of a man finding his place from yoga!

Anyways peeps - TTYL!

Day 1 in Costa Rica

Here's some pics from my first day - I have to say the retreat is unbelievable. It's a great view of the Pacific Ocean on one side and jungle on the next!

This is my room. Surrounded by jungle, but with a great view of the Pacific.

This is the shower. Outdoors but wanted to take a shower tonight and saw a grasshopper. So will wait till the sun comes up. One of the guys here said he saw monkeys in the trees so that also got me a bit freaked!

This is my cabin. Surrounded by glass for all to see.

Awesome infinity salt water pool with great view of the Pacific!

What a place for a hammock!

Anyways peeps I'll try and post some more pics!

Ex-Lovers and Costa Rica

It's weird, but I've bounced into my ex - twice this week - once at the coffee shop last Saturday and then tonight at Michael's- a cool trendy restaurant where the food is all stripped down (like how I like my men) and simple!

I was having dinner tonight by my lonesome and then I saw Graham - it felt good...and I thought about our time together - I guess I was a bit lonely tonight - having dinner by myself on the eve of my vacation.

I had actually planned gym today but felt like ditching the idea and just chilling at a coffee house and then have dinner. It's a great way to start my vacation - but I couldn't help feel a bit depressed. My partner is in Scotland for a few weeks so I miss him as well....Anywho....on a positive side I am off to Costa Rica tomorrow for a week of yoga, great food and some adventure - zip lining here I'll come....

Take care peeps!

Beck Does Inxs's Kick

If your a fan of the 80's then you must know and love INXS. Led by frontman Michael Hutchence, I've said that Michael was one of the sexiest stars of the 80's.

I've always found INXS's music to be energetic, lively, and just so danceable. Their music has survived the times and remains definitive for the 80's and MTV!

It was a pleasant surprise to me when I logged on to Beck's Record Club, to see that he covered the entire 1988 classic album "Kick" to his own interpretation. Each song done by Beck, is innovative, fresh and interpreted in a way that only Beck can. I've listened to all of the tracks since Kick is one of my all-time favourite albums, and this one for me stands out - "Mystify".

Beck's "Record Club" is a cool, laid back, open recording session that is like a "live coffee house" - the musicians show and record unrehearsed within the day - really cool and it just shows how talented and creative Beck really is - love 'em. St. Vincent (one of the up and coming female indie artists) also makes guest vocals on a couple of tracks (like Need You Tonight)!

Beck's next Record Club project is get this....Yanni's "Live at the Acropolis"....I actually have this album, and it's classic new age. It will be interesting to hear what Beck comes up with as it is a complete 180 for Beck!

Anyways peeps - there's some links to Beck's Record Club, so hop on over and enjoy!

Sore Crutch

This is me all intense and waiting for my ride to the ride!

I had my first horse back ride last Saturday along the beach. Now - I've been on better beaches - this one was OK - it was a bit dirty, but it was on the West coast, so it was a nice view of the sunset - a bit peaceful.
That's Balhant in front strutting along!

At first I was a bit scared - I had to wear a helmet - after all you never know if these beasts of burden would get all fidgety - and well  - I'm not the bravest person on the planet. It was however a quiet trot along the beach - so cool!

I think our horse-leader (I hope that's what they are called) was a bit high.

It was also a nice team of friends - one girl from Romania, two guys from Hungary and 1 gal from Cali-FORNIA - yah baby - sweet!
Cali - baby!

Anyways - after about a two hour strut on the beach the inside of my thighs are a bit sore! But all-in-all it was a great way to spend my Saturday afternoon!'

TTYL - cutie peeps!

Queen - Larry's Fantasy and Ex-Lover Across from Me

So Larry at Patently Queer got me thinking about Freddie Mercury recently.....Larry - it must have been the mention of the term "power-bottom" that got to me, but on a less perverse train of thought, I was thinking about Freddie as an amazing musician - and the classic rock songs that forms part of an unparallel repertoire!

It's weird but I'm in a coffee house writing this post and across from me is this guy I used to date and be intimate with...but anyways I digress...

Queen were a phenomenal rock band, lead by an an amazing and talented group of guys - Freddie Mercury is well-respected in music and is one of my favourite rock singers (along with Robert Plant) and Brian May is also regarded as one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time - and of course John Deacon and Roger Taylor to complete the circle.

I remember me and my siblings and cousins rocking out to "A Night At The Opera" and belting out "Bohemian Rhapsody" at the top of our voice and word for word. My sister also had this really cool electric blue rock-tee of Queen's "A Night at the Opera" which later I got (loved it).

Back in 2004, I had the privilege of seeing in London "We Will Rock You" - a play set to the music of Queen and composed by Brian May and Roger Taylor (of Queen). The couple next to me were from New York, and they commented that this play was in the Top 5 they've seen.

The play was so awesome - I don't know why it never opened on Broadway -  it would sure sell out. It's colourful, funny, great story (about a world where rock n' roll is lost/forgotten) and full of great choreography - and of course it's all set the music of Queen. I just remembered - the main female lead was named "Britney Spears" after some obscure female artist they read about - so funny!

Anywho - here's my favorite Top 10 from Queen:

10.  Under Pressure (w/David Bowie)

Performed live at Wembly - 1986. Please take a listen to Freddie's amazing love on this one!

9. Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Queen at Live Aid - check it out!

8. Somebody to Love

Version by George Michael + Queen (gotta love George on this one).

7. Killer Queen

Mazz Murray (star in the play "We Will Rock You") as Killer Queen in The Weakest Link!

6. Bicycle Race

This song was based on a race where the cyclists were all in the nude. The album actually had a very provocative poster inside of a bunch of naked women with knee high socks and their boobs and arses all bare. I was really young then and this did leave an impression on me. So love this song and the idea of cycling naked!

5. Fat Bottom Girls

I believe this song was also inspired by that famous "Bicycle Race" with those naked chicks bare on the saddle...

4. I Want to Break Free

I kinda like this one, because I am thinking Freddie is crying out as to what he is.....See a link to the pick of the "Gayest Music Videos of all Time".

3. You're My Best Friend

This video is funny - a cute girl singing this classic on ukulele.

2. We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions

Oh yeah - live at Wembly in 1986! Plus it's such a classic sport anthem!

1. Bohemian Rhapsody

Classic - re-made in Wayne's World - just the bestest!

Anyway peeps - TTYL!

Spiderman hits Broadway_Music by U2 (Yah Baby)

Is this the first comic book super hero to make it to Broadway - "SPIDERMAN - Turn Off the Dark" hits Broadway on November 14th, and get this music is being composed by U2's Bono and the Edge. How awesome is that?

U2 has already made an imprint on the comic book super-heroes by composing the theme to one of the Batman flicks (remember Hold Me Thrill Me Kill Me). Also Larry and Adam had composed the Mission Impossible theme - so the band is no stranger to the movies. But Broadway - yeah - that's rocking.

The Broadway theatrics is to be directed by Julie Taymor ("The Lion King") and has loads of stunts, visuals and amazing performers from Cique deSoleil; the Beijing Olympics, Broadway and the motion pics itself.

Wonderman - I know you'll love this!

The Gayest Videos of all Time.......(According to SteveA)

OK - a while aback I said I was going to list (According to SteveA) the gayest videos of all time....OK cuties - here's the list.

10. Rammstein - “Mann Gegen Man"

This German hard-core metal/hard rock all-guy band really did a flip on this video. The title means "Man Against man" and trust me there's a whole lot of men (all butt naked, oiled and muscular) in this video.

9. Electric Six - "Gay Bar"

The title says it all (1863 in Washington DC and a gay bar?)

8. The Village People - "Y.M.C.A."

Oh so classic - c'mon every gay/straight man loves this one! Hearing this song in the 70's I was clueless - in retrospect they really made it possible for bands to express their style and not be afraid.

7. Wham! - "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"

Seeing George Michael in those tight girly-shorts, pink sweater and yellow gloves - c'mon how could we not have known. And Andrew Ridgely also looks great in those tight yellow shorts that shows for a fraction of a second his package.

6. Madonna - "Vogue"

The Queen and her boys making the cuties all vogue on the dancefloor.

5. Queen - "I Want to Break Free"

I always wondered what Freddie Mercury was trying to say in this song - was it a cry for his homosexual nature to shine through (well that was already done in his stage outfits); is it a cry for people to be who they are and not care what anyone thinks? Looking at this video, I am thinking he wants to break free and become a house-wife?

4. Bronski Beat - "Small Town Boy"

So classic - Jimmy Sommervile and Bronski Beat really from the start were not hiding who they were....they were gay, they sang about gay themes, and with an album detailing the "Age of Consent" of  homosexuality in many countries - there is no doubt about this band's orientation.

3. Frankie Goes to Hollywood - "Relax"

Looking at this video I thought it was way ahead of it's time. I mean Holly Johnson walking into a pig-leather bar and this being the setting for a music video? No wonder it was banned in the US and UK.

2.  Sigur Ros - “Vidrar Vel Til Loftarasa”

I posted this video as a taster to this countdown a few weeks ago. If there is any video you should look at - look at this one. Trust me - it was make you tear-up.

1. Olivia Newton John - "Physical"

Why did I choose this for #1? Well back in 1981, with a pop-superstar like Olivia Newton-John making a video about hot muscular guys holding hands at the end; guys in speedos, muscular/oiled bodies everywhere - I was sold back in 1981. Granted this video is not "overtly" gay, but the subtle suggestions behind it, gave it a nice twist.

Anyways peeps - TTYL!

Back to Boston - Interpol, Yoga, Cique de Soleil

My trip to Provincetown and Boston was part of a needed vacation. There was lots of yoga involved, coffee, plays and just plain old doing nothing. Forget the large retail shops - I was all into taking it easy and not having much of an agenda.

I had a seven day journey and it was all good....here are some great highlights from my trip...

1) I got to meet my first blogger - BosGuy - a complete hottie and a really nice guy. Thanks Rob for your advice on P-town and Boston. I am definitely back in October for that Pink Floyd concert....

2) Yoga at Baron Baptiste's studio in Boston
This is where Vinyasa yoga really took off - all in Boston baby!

3) Whale watching in Provincetown

4) Family Colage
Appreciating the beauty of gay family life and their courage in pursuing a normal life despite the hate and tumbling blocks that lay before them....

5) Great plays and meeting my first porn star  - Gus Mattox/ Tom Judson - what a complete hottie (and nice and talented guy as well)....
Tom/Gus in Canned Ham.

6) Cirque de Soleil - Ovo
On the ferry to P-town I heard a lady say "That's the Cirque de Soleil" tent...and then it hit me that I should go see this when I am back in Boston - completely on the whim!

7) And yeah top it up with great music at HoB - Interpol. If you like that come-back New York sound characteristic of modern bands like "The Yeah Yeah Yeahs", "The Strokes" and classic "Blondie" then you would so love "Interpol".
From a quartet to a trio - they still sound awesome!

8) Devon's - I ate there 4 times and the staff and owner are absolute gems!
This restaurant serves only a lucky 40 people per night - it's quaint small house converted into a restaurant with a great view overlooking the P-town shore line! From the cool staff, creative meals and laid back music - it rocks!

Anyway folks - take care and TTYL!

Slap and Tickle - Provincetown Theatre - Bath House Blues

So of course the whole idea of a bath house is quite appealing to me - I just find it sexy that men can walk around in their towels and possibly hook up - me - I am more of an observer and that's how I like to keep it!

So  - if there's a play set in to the tune of 6 gay men in a bath house representing the politics, risks, joy and troubles of being gay - then it's a must see.

"Slap and Tickle" is such a play. It was at the Provincetown Theatre that I saw this play, but not after seeing the flyer for this play -  I mean come on - gay men in a bath house - that was intriguing enough for me....
The play looks at the life of 6 gay men representing every facet of a gay man's life and gay culture from the use of the internet, to the coming of age of realising that you are gay, monogamy, sexual freedom in an open relationship, abuse, drugs, HIV - it's got it all.

The play got great reviews and I was reading somewhere that it might be heading to Off-Broadway.

Anyways folks - if you can get a chance to see it - please do - it's about the times of our lives as gay men!

TTYL sexy peeps!

Gay Families in Provincetown....Beautiful Rainbow Children

When I arrived in Provincetown it was "Family Collage Week", and it really opened my eyes and heart!

My first impression and thoughts of "Family Week" in Provincetwon was that it meant the "traditional" family - as in mom, dad and kids. I noticed when I arrived that there were an awfully lot of men walking with prams all over Commercial Street - I thought.....

"Wow - what great dads they were. Maybe the mom was resting or maybe doing some shopping".

....talk about being naive!

Also...I did find it a bit sexy to see all of these sexy daddies with prams, and walking their kids around.....thanks P-Town!

I had no idea that most of the families there were "Pride Families"....this really opened my eyes and made me feel a warm and hopeful glow inside...seeing all these beautiful gay men and women with children everywhere....children of all beautiful creeds and races....just made me melt.

It was also interesting to see all these young kids so "comfortable" and "at home" with the whole "gay family". There were so many kids sporting pride tee-shirts.

I was at a yoga class in P-town and I bummed a lift with one of the students there along with another lady who was visiting from Toronto.....as I guessed they were lesbians and they were there with their families for Collage.

One lady said, that she was married for years and had a son from her marriage. After leaving her husband for her partner....she said her son felt lost and misdirected but all of this changed when she brought him to Collage a few years ago - she said that "it changed his life" and he finally understood about his mother and that there were others like him.

The lady from Toronto, also said that she was down with her partner and their adopted children and that they always try to make it for Collage.

Wow - being here for Collage really opened my eyes to the good things that these beautiful gay couples are doing by adopting and giving kids who may not otherwise, have had an opportunity to grow and have a chance of a good life.

I'm sure as well that many of these gay families have surrogate mothers - but either way - a child is brought up in a loving, caring environment.

I love this pic - the cutie (Ethan) was conceived by a surrogate mother.

Anyways folks - TTYL!

I Met My 1st Porn Star

Yee hah.....I arrived in Provincetown on Sunday (August 1st) and while walking down Commercial Street I saw this amazing, hot advert for a play at the Art House that night at 8:00 p.m.....

I immediately thought - what a hot, sexy, gorgeous man, and I couldn't stop staring at that tan-line - ummmm hmmmmm!

It was for a play called "Canned Ham" - a real-life narrative play about a up and coming Broadway composer who at the age of 42 switched careers to become a porn star and became the "oldest" recipient of an AVN award!!!! (in 2006). With this info in hand - how could I not go see this 100% super-sexy daddy! I mean look at that gorgeous smile and hot tan-line!

OK -so who is he?....as a porn star his A.K.A. is Gus Mattox (Tom Judson is his real name). Tom/Gus was nominated for many AVN awards but finally won one in 2006 for "best performer", becoming the oldest recipient of such an award.

Tom has appeared in the Broadway plays for "Cabarert"; and 42nd Street and also Metroploitan. He has also done musical compositions for MTV and would you believe it ....  Sesame Street (I never thought that Sesame Street would appear on my blog but growing up on it - I'm glad I mentioned it. Tom did the "Milk" song if you can remember that one!).

The show was an introspect of Tom's life - from his finding of his true love, losing his loved one to AIDS in the early 90's and the depression that followed him. Despite shows on Broadway and his amazing talent as a composer and musician, he takes up an offer one faithful night to star in a porn flick (at the ripe old age of 42). Tom's stayed only a short 2 years in the porn industry before returning to his roots in the arts.

During the show, his musical talent is shown as he plays the accordion in his jock strap, and later on the piano and sax!

After the show I did meet him and then the next day, whilst waiting for a cab, I saw him walking up the street towards me - "Hi" I said as he returned the gesture and returned a gorgeous smile that made me melt! And there you go - the first porn star I met!

Anyway peeps - TTYL!

Provincetown - A Quiet Great Town on the Cape

I was in Boston and Provincetown over the last week.

One of the highlights was that I met my first blogger Rob over at Bos Guy (the Blog)  - and trust me - he was fine and quite a looker too! (Sorry Rob I had to say that)!

Another highlight was that I was in Provincetown for a few days.....here are some pics....
Whale watching in Ptown - the 3-hour tour was so worth it - we saw a school comprising about 6 whales.

More whale watching.

Provincetown at around 7:00 am. Things are just getting on the way in this laid back, quiet gay-loving town. Trust me at night the place is enitrely different - loads of hotties everywhere and the shops open till late - around 11:00 p.m. at night

One of my fave spots to people watch - the "Wired Puppy". Great fresh treats and organic coffee offers a cool, trendy resting spot for travellers wanting to connect to the net whilst having a cup of java!

P-town is the perfect get-away for me - no huge retail shops, no department stores - just loads of trendy art and jewellery shops, loads of unique coffee houses and great local restaurants. Oh yeah - try the The "Purple Feather" for some great home made Italian gelato and fudges.

Thanks folks - I'll post some more pics over the next couple of days.
