"Baldheaded Bohemian" - It was a phrase I heard about 20 years ago to describe Irish rock singer Sinead O'Connor - I can't remember where exactly I heard or saw this phrase - but I am guessing it was Rolling Stone. Wow - some 20 years ago.
I felt like this on Thursday.....here's the story!
My friend who owns the yoga studio that I practise at, asked me to do some modelling for charity (Big Brothers, Big Sisters) - I immediately said "yes" - after all it was for charity.
I had to model some LuLuLemon yoga clothes which was fine up until the point when I arrived and saw that it was full of people all nicely dressed up - at a $120 per ticket - it was quite posh! This scared me a bit - so I opted to have a vodka soda and get a feel for the place - well it gave me a buzz and then I was ready for the catwalk - except that the lyrics to "Right Said Fred's - I'm Too Sexy" was stuck in my head......you know the lyrics...
"I'm a model....you know what I mean, and I get my kicks on the catwalk"....and so it goes!
It was awesome to see that a bunch of my friends (whom I did not tell) there cheering me on....and loads of other folks I knew were there too.....I did feel like a rock star....dressed in my yoga clothes, with a bag strapped across my back - I was Bohemian Chic with my bald head for about a minute - yeah - I rocked - I had no idea what I was doing - I just completely winged it!
Anyways peeps - just a moment to share - TTYL!

Roger Water's The Wall
Whilst I was in Boston about two weeks ago, I did attend "Roger Water's The Wall" tour.
As a back track, the album "The Wall" was released in 1979 and is the 3rd biggest selling album in history in the U.S. It spawned the classic anti-authourity establishment song "Another Brick in The Wall" which is exactly what the concert is about - building walls.
I was in NYC in 1982 when "The Wall" movie came out. Initially it was shown in one cinema in New York, and I remember my sister and cousin trying to get tixs to see - I can't remember if they ever did, but I knew at the time it was the buzz!
The concert is more of a theatrical production about "fears" and the "walls" it can build. There was even an intermission which of course then launched into CD # 2 if anyone has "The Wall" album.
The album itself is a concept album and I can't recall (it was over 30 years ago) if the movie was created as a means of putting some context to the album or if Roger Waters/David Gilmour had the storyline in their heads when they put pen to paper and made this super album.
I was a bit sceptical about the concert with Roger Water's frontining without the likes of the rest of the band, particularly David Gilmour whose vocals are a part of the classic album and of course a trade-mark of the band. But with a full vocal-group entourage providing the lyrics to the story and the great visuals and sound effects accompanying the building of the wall, there was so much to look at, feel and experience that I soon got lost in the entire production.
During the show, (which is the duration of CD 1) the entire stage was gradually built up into a wall, showing all the "fears" and "events" which creates these "walls" such as war, religion, relationships, an over-protective mother, drugs etc.
Scenes from the movie is also played on the wall which now becomes a canvas for images, light and scenes from World War I and II, Vietnam and the Mid-East war - very thought provoking and definitely worth seeing.
If you are thinking about going to see this tour - you should. If you have kids it's a great concert to bridge the generation gap and share something with your kids. However, bear in mind that tixs at a minimum is $250 - very pricey indeed!
Anyways peeps - TTYL!

HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY JOHN LENNON
I always loved this photo of John. It's so classic rock!
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one!
Another classic photo - I have a post card size of this pic - which I want to include in my wall of rock!
John was not afraid to stand up to any country - the FBI tried to silence him for his views and outspokeness on Vietnam (see "The US vs John Lennon"). I mean they just don't make rock stars like this anymore.
Here's a classic track from John done by "The Flaming Lips"
Flaming Lips - (Just Like) Starting Over (John Lennon Cover)
Anywho's - HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!

Classic Rock Weekend - Rush's Time Machine
Friday night in Y'bor, Tampa is smack in the middle of the gay area, commonly called Gaybor. I wrote about a year ago on my visit to Gaybor when I visited Tampa to see U2! Well much has not changed here apart from a few more places closed due to that dreaded "R" word!

Well seeing Rush's "Time Machine" tour was worth it....the band opened with "Spirit of Radio" and they performed everything from their 1981 classic album "Moving Pictures", which includes "Tom Sawyer" (one of the best tracks to come out of the 80's) and "Limelight".

I paid for a VIP upgrade for the lounge area and it was a complete waste of money - to begin with I thought that the food and drinks would have been free but I had to pay for both. Turns out I just paid for an area to rest if I needed to.....a waste!

We should all know Neil Perth as one of the greatest drummers of rock history.....but I have to admit that the lead guitarist stole the show (at one point rubbing his fret board on the mike to amazing effect)!

I had crappy seats, and 1 800 Ask Gary as the stadium did not have the best sound system, but this band still has it! Would I see them again - YES!
Anyways peeps - TTYL!
